BLOG: LEADERSHIP LESSONS FROM THE RANCH
Not all leadership lessons come from the office—some come from the field. Let me introduce Brittney, a 25-year-old paint mare from the Ottawa Valley, and the horse I learned to ride on. She has very strong opinions and an uncanny ability to ignore anything she doesn’t find relevant. Horses don’t care about titles. They care about energy, clarity, and consistency. Research in animal-assisted learning shows horses are highly sensitive to subtle emotional and physiological cues in humans, often picking up on things we don’t even realize we’re broadcasting. If you’re curious about leadership that’s more real, occasionally humbling, and sometimes mildly funny, you’ll probably enjoy these posts.
